Barry represents the 3rd generation of the family business that was started by his grandfather, Frank Meguiar Jr., in Evansville, Indiana in 1901. From their focus on buffing cars in car dealers and body shops, Barry introduced Meguiar’s into the retail market in 1973. It’s now the top selling car wax in America and in countries around the world.
Car Guys have always been Barry’s focus, with creating show-car perfect paint finishes his goal, supporting more car shows than anyone else of every type and description around the world for the last 50 years . . . while still calling ‘Cruisin for a Cure’ his favorite show!
For 18 years, Barry traveled the globe with his Car Crazy TV cameras to show Car Guys what Car Guys look like around the world. You can Google, “Car Crazy Gene,” to hear his presentation of why we’re “Car Crazy,” during his Meguiar’s Award Gala at the Kodak Theatre.
Barry’s been working and displaying cars at car shows since the ‘50’s at the old Pan Pacific Auditorium. He’s one of the few still living who were at the first SEMA Show, before it was called SEMA, at the Disneyland Hotel in 1965. For 15 years, Car Crazy TV was SEMA TV, interviewing the top Car Guys at the show and airing throughout the exhibit floor and into 90,000 hotel rooms.
Barry’s a member of the SEMA Hall of Fame and has been Grand Marshall at many of our nation’s top Car Guy events, including the 50th Anniversary of the Corvette at the National Corvette Museum. He’s the presenter of the ‘Ridler Award’ at AutoRama and, most importantly, he’s never missed Cruisin’ for a Cure!
And on September 28, 2024, Barry is the Grand Marshall of Cruisin’ for a Cure’s 25th Anniversary Show!
